Boko Haram commanders shot dead in Borno, bomb factory uncovered in Yobe


The JTF says during the operations, a Boko Haram to commander, Abdulkareem Ibrahim, and two of his sub commanders were killed
The  Police Command in Borno said on Sunday that it had successfully repelled an attack by suspected terrorists at the Gamboru/Ngala Divisional Police Station.
Abdullahi Yuguda, the Commissioner of Police in the state, told newsmen that a group of suspected terrorists on Sunday invaded the station to carry out an attack.
“They invaded the police station and made an attempt to launch an attack but my men rose to the occasion and repelled the attack,” he said.
Mr. Yuguda, however, declined to give more details on the incident, adding that he was expecting detail information from the Divisional Police Officer in the station.
“I can only confirm to you that my men successfully repelled the attack. I will supply the details when I get them please.”
Meanwhile, the Joint Task Force has confirmed the killing of a suspected top commander of the Boko Haram terrorists group in Maiduguri.
The JTF Spokesman, Lt.-Col. Sagir Musa, said “the JTF with members of the Department of State Security Service and the Police Dog Section, in a combined operations on Sunday, launched a special raid operation on Damboa– Biu Road.
“The operation was to capture one of the major terrorist Commander, Abdulkareem Ibrahim, top on its wanted list.
“During the operations and in the ensuring fire fight, Ibrahim and two of his sub commanders were killed and an AK47 rifle with other arms and ammunition were recovered,’’ Musa said.
According to him, Ibrahim is a notorious terrorist Commander, who has been responsible for the recent spates of assassinations and bomb attacks in Maiduguri.
“He is one of the top commanders recently declared in the bounty list released by the JTF to members of the public.
“The JTF will continue to appreciate all information that will lead to more arrest of the sect commanders declared in the bounty as well as other information that will help the security agents.”
Meanwhile, the JTF in Yobe says it has discovered explosive assembling house in Damaturu, one week after recovering over 5, 000 rounds of ammunition buried in Damaturu.
Lt. Eli Lazarus, the JTF spokesman told newsmen in Damaturu on Sunday that the taskforce made the discovery during a search operation at Buhari Housing Estate, on Maiduguri – Gashua Road Bypass.
He explained that two riffles, ammunitions, magazines, medical equipment and tear gas canisters were recovered during the search.
“Other items recovered include, military, police and immigration uniforms, while a decomposed corpse was found in the house, “ Lazarus said.
The spokesman advised members of the public to be vigilant and report suspicious persons in their areas to the taskforce.
He assured that the taskforce would cooperate with the people in the state to provide adequate security for them.
