The greatest player in the world thanked everybody for their support with a brief message on his Facebook page:
"“Today I am the happiest man in the world, my son has been born, thanks to God for this gift! Thanks to my family for their support. Love to you all!”Late on Friday afternoon, his girlfriend Antonella Rocuzzo gave birth to Thiago Messi, the couple’s first child.

Don Jazzy and Freeze Exchange "words" on Twitter
It is safe to say after the Mo’Hits saga and controversial split between label heads, Don Jazzy and D’banj, most friends and acquaintances were somewhat forced to take sides, settling for ‘Team Don Jazzy‘ or ‘Team D’banj‘, they might deny but it’s true.
MAVIN Records boss Don Jazzy and popular COOL FM on-air-personality Freeze kicked off the month of November with a ‘war of words’ on Twitter.
Don Jazzy called out Freeze in the afternoon, accusing him of having bad blood against his person.
‘Uncle @Freeze_Coolfm if to say na you be God ehn, there will be no Nigeria. Respect is reciprocal o. If u hate me that much #CallPolice abeg‘.Freeze later responded to the producer stating his disappointment in Don Jazzy taking a diss at him on the social network.
‘Uncle Jazzy, I can’t believe u would stoop so low as to diss me on Social media‘.Truth is,this beef/misunderstanding (or whatever) did not start with these tweets.
Few weeks ago, Freeze granted D’banj an interview on his ‘Road Show’ when the pop star paid a visit to COOL FM. Freeze was not shy of taking frequent swipes at Don Jazzy, teasing D’banj to begin ‘dashing’ phone airtime (credit) on Twitter as some people got quite famous from doing so.
He also joked about D’banj buying Don Jazzy’s Bentley among other things. He also didn’t hesitate to help D’banj take jabs at Eedris Abdulkareem when the questions of the KENNIS Music rapper’s issues with D’banj arose.
According to Netng, a source at Cool Fm said:
‘Freeze hasn’t hesitated to show his support for D’banj, he basically doesn’t care what Don Jazzy thinks, I guess he’s pitching himself with who seems to be looking more succesfull right now. It’s nothing personal though‘,
Man stabbed to death over N200 debt
A 35-year-old bricklayer, Mr Ugochukwu Ekwuribe, from Amuzu-Olokoro, near Umuahia, was allegedly stabbed to death over a N200 debt reportedly owed to his suspected killer.
Ekwuribe’s father, Mr Andrew Ogazi, a security man, said the incident happened around 7.30 p.m. last Friday.
Ogazi said that he learnt from several witnesses that his son bled to death after he was stabbed with a bottle at a beer parlour located at Itaja-Olokoro.
Narrating the incident, he explained that he was in his house at Amuzu, when news came to him that ”Ugochukwu is dead”.
He said that he immediately rushed to the scene of the incident where it was confirmed that the deceased was stabbed during a fight with the suspect.
The suspect, identified as Tochukwu Azuonye, popularly called Tobinto, is said to be at large.
Ogazi said that he was informed that Azuonye allegedly accosted his son at the bar and asked him to buy him a bottle of beer.
“’My son was reported to have promised that he would oblige him his request the following day being Saturday,” he said.
He said that the suspect, not satisfied with the promise, demanded that the deceased pay him the outstanding N200 he owed him for the towel he sold to him.
“I learnt that from there, a fight ensued and the suspect grabbed a bottle at the bar, broke it and stabbed him on the left arm.
“He reportedly bled profusely from the deep cut until he slumped and was rushed to a nearby maternity at Ahia-Ukwu Olokoro for first aid,” he said.
He explained that the deceased was rejected at the maternity and referred to the Federal Medical Centre, Umuahia, where he reportedly gave up the ghost, shortly after doctors commenced treatment on him.
Ogazi, who explained that the police had waded into the case and called for justice in the handling of the matter.
A senior police officer at the state Criminal Investigation Department confirmed the incident , saying that it was transferred from Ubakala Police Station.
The officer said on condition of anonymity that “full investigation into the case has commenced,’’ promising that the suspect “will certainly be apprehended’’.

Boko Haram names Buhari, 5 others as mediators
The Federal Government in a statement by Dr. Reuben Abati, Presidential Spokesman, Thursday, welcomed the move.
Boko Haram, however, said that for the group to observe ceasefire, the Federal Government must heed its demand by arresting and prosecuting the former Governor of Borno State, Senator Ali Modu Sheriff.
Governor Ibrahim Shettima of Borno State also, Thursday, said security agencies should be allowed to do their job on those they suspect are sponsors or sympathisers of the Boko Haram sect.
Shettima told state house correspondents after a meeting of the National Economic Council that the security challenge in the country required the efforts of all Nigerians to overcome.
Meanwhile, spokesman of the group, Abu Mohammed Ibn Abdulazeez, who doubles as the Second-in-Command (Amir) to their leader, Imam Abubakar Shekau, made the group’s intention known in a tele-conference with journalists in Maiduguri, Thursday.
Mediators
Abdulazeez said other people, who could mediate with the government if its conditions were met, include Dr. Shettima Ali Monguno, former Yobe State governor, Bukar Abba Ibrahim, Ambassador Gaji Galtimari and Hajia Aisha Wakil and her husband, Alkali Wakil.
Dialogue venue
He insisted, however, that such dialogue must not take place in Nigeria, but Saudi Arabia.
According to him, the choice of Saudi Arabia was informed by the insincerity of the Nigeria government for dialogue and its betrayal in the past.
Abdulazeez insisted that for the group to ceasefire completely, the government must not only apprehend, but prosecute Senator Modu Sheriff according to the laws of the land as well as compensate members of the group and rebuild their places of worship destroyed during 2009 uprising, which led to the alleged murder of their leader, Mohammed Yusuf.
Conditions for ceasefire
The Boko Haram spokesman further stressed that, all their members, who were arrested and are under the custody of security agencies must be released immediately, just as their wives and children who were displaced following the crises should be rehabilitated into the society to allow room for the much talked about dialogue with the Federal Government.
Commenting on the series of recent killings and destruction of property in Maiduguri, Abu Abdulazeez dissociated Boko Haram from the action, saying such attacks were not only politically-motivated, but carried out by those seeking power in the Borno Emirate council or in government.
He stressed that recent killings and destructions in Maiduguri were against the ideology of the sect, which he said was fighting the cause of Allah.
Abdulazeez also said the burning of old and newly-constructed primary schools witnessed across the state were not carried out by the sect, insisting that they were perpetrated by aggrieved politicians who were denied contracts by the state government.
Last February, the group had also nominated Monguno, Bukar Ibrahim, Aisha Wakil and Jinadu Idris as part of a team to mediate between it and the Federal Government, but the negotiation never got off.
Buhari reacts
Thursday, was, however, the first time the group would be proposing Gen. Buhari as part of a mediation team between it and the Federal Government.
Buhari, who returned to Kaduna from Daura, Katsina State, yesterday evening, said he was yet to be formally contacted on the development.
Buba Galadima, an associate of the former Head of State speaking on behalf of the General said: “His first reaction is that he has not heard about this news and nobody has contacted him.
“He said he wouldn’t want to say anything on this matter that has not yet been authenticated, but he remains prayerful that peace and tranquility will return to this country.”
Sheriff’s words
Meanwhile, Sheriff, who spoke in Abuja on the issue of the involvement of politicians with Boko Haram, said: “I think it is within the realm and the responsibility of the security agencies to unearth the truth.
“I am more of a developmental politician and I am more interested in addressing the core issues that make our society vulnerable to the antics of religious bigots and all sorts of misfits that are indoctrinating our young ones to these things.
“I don’t want to dabble into the realm of the security agencies neither do I want to respond to allegations and accusations from any quarter.
“But it is the responsibility of security agencies to unearth those behind Boko Haram.”
A veteran journalist Dele Giwa said an evil done by man to man will be rewarded if not now then later, if not by man then certainly by God. But the day of evil over good is only temporary.
“I think the problem at hand goes beyond politics. The underlying factor is poverty. The most important thing is how we can resolve this problem and restore harmony, peace and how to eradicate endemic poverty which is the underlying factor of the whole crisis.
“I want to solicit for the media not to dwell on sensationalism but proper conflict resolution and move our society forward. Its pains me if a single person is killed by Boko Haram, when innocent souls are lost.
“Its sheer hooliganism. Its sheer madness for anybody to burn a place of worship. These are the issue agitating my mind and I don’t want to dwell on politics for now.”

5 policemen bag 25 years jail for robbery
Ten years after they were charged, the long hands of the law yesterday caught up with five policemen as they were sentenced to 25 years imprisonment by an Ikeja High Court for robbing some businessmen of their lorry loaded with clothing materials.
Handing down his judgment, Justice Joseph Oyewole convicted the policemen – Bestman Denner, Musa Mohammed, Peter Enidiok, Godwin Williams and Emmanuel Ajogbor of the charge of conspiracy and robbery pressed against them.
The judge, found the policemen guilty, having established their involvement in the offences.
Oyewole said their involvement in the robbery incident as security officers make their case worrisome.
He therefore sentenced them to imprisonment which would run concurrently, starting from when they were arrested on March 3, 2005 and remanded in prison custody.
Oyewole said, “I hold that there is sufficient evidence to conspiracy as to commit robbery as charged. I hereby convict each of them accordingly.
“However, the defendants are policemen trained to protect the public and not otherwise. This in itself is an aggravating factor.
“The defendants took advantage of their being members of the Nigeria Police Force to rob citizens. This is unfortunate.
“Using the police uniform to rob is a bad signal to the public because it will erode people’s confidence on the police.
“The image of the police should not be dented to the extent that members of the public will begin to see police checkpoints as an armed robbers,” he said.
