Nkiru Sylvanus' Family Paid Her Kidnappers N8m

During a press briefing yesterday in Owerri, the police told reporters that the actress family went behind their back and paid N8m to the kidnappers before they freed Nkiru and her colleagues on Thursday.

Adisa Bolanta,the Commissioner of Police said he warned her family to avoid negotiating with the kidnappers but they ignored his orders and went ahead without his knowledge.

"They defied our warnings and continued negotiations with the kidnappers. They went behind us and paid N8 million to them. We have made some arrests in connection with the case and very soon they will all be apprehended." He said

Nkiru Sylvanus And Kenneth Okolie Released By Kidnappers

  Actress Nkiru Sylvanus and former Mr. Nigeria Kenneth Okolie have been freed by their kidnappers. They were released less than an hour ago in Owerri.

 The kidnappers tied their eyes and dropped them off at an unknown location where they were able to call friends to pick them up.

No details yet if they paid the ransom which the kidnappers demanded .

We write to formally inform your esteemed office of the kidnap, last Sunday, December 16th, of two of our colleagues, enterprising entertainers, Nkiru Sylvanus and Kenneth Okolie. The two actors were in Owerri, Imo State, shooting a movie when they were forcefully abducted by masked gunmen. Some hours later, the mindless abductors contacted family and friends of Ms Sylvanus especially demanding a N100m ransom. Up till now, we cannot fathom the rationale behind their kidnap. And their abductors have advanced none.

Murtala Muhammed International Airport On Fire

According to an eyewitness the fire emanated from some cables, which apparently melted under heat. This led to a blackout in the airport terminal while fire fighters deployed swiftly in the affected area to quench the inferno. The fire fighters were able to put the situation under control while security men erected a metal barricade around the site.

Meanwhile, a cargo plane blew off the roof of a parking lot at the airport on Wednesday night, causing damage to some cars. The extent of damage has yet to be ascertained.

First plane crash site in Nigeria to be made tourist centre

  The location in Ikogosi in Ekiti West Local Government Area of Ekiti where the first plane crash was recorded in 1942, is to be converted to tourist centre.

The Special Adviser to the state Governor on Tourism Development, Mr. Segun Ologunleko, who inspected the crash site on Wednesday in Ikogosi-Ekiti, said the decision was to turn the state into attractive tourism destination in West Africa.

Former Mr Nigeria Kenneth Okolie Kidnapped Alongside Nkiru Sylvanus

 Actress Nkiru Sylvanus was kidnapped on December 15th, after leaving the set of her new movie alongside former Mr Nigeria, Kenneth Okolie and another unidentified passenger in Owerri to another location .

The gunmen blocked them between Concorde Hotel and Cathedral Road Owerri and took all three passengers in the car.

Kenneth left Lagos two weeks ago to feature in the movie and was due back home this week.

27 Dead As Trailer Plunges Into River

 No fewer than 27 people were reported dead, while 18 others sustained various degrees of injuries following an accident involving an articulated vehicle.

The accident, which occurred along Ruwa Wuri-Tangaza road, Monday, also claimed the lives of a number of cows and sheep.
