His band One Direction are officially the highest-earning youngsters in the music industry, and he took home a whopping £5million earnings in the last year alone. And Liam Payne was evidently feeling very generous indeed on Tuesday night when he reportedly treated a pal to a bottle of champagne, worth a staggeing £1.2million. Dubbed 'the world's most expensive champagne', the kind-hearted 19-year-old is believed to have made sure his Nigerian musician pal, Wizkid, had the best 24th birthday a boy could wish for by splashing out on a bottle of Tast Of Diamond at London's Funky Buddha nightclub. In a snap posted on the Twitter page of luxury designer Alexander Amosu, the Wolverhampton-born singer was seen pouting away into the camera as he poured a glass of bubbly for his pal.

Man rapes 9-year-old girl to death in Cross River

 A 20-year-old man, Chijioke Nwakor, from Aniocha Local Government Area of Anambra State is now in Police custody for allegedly raping a nine-year-old girl to death.The  suspect who is currently detained at the  Criminal Investigation Department (CID), state Police headquarters, Diamond Hill, Calabar is alleged to have engaged Miss Alice Eneji in a marathon love making which resulted in the girl’s death.

 Chijioke told the officer heading the homicide unit of the state CID, Mr. Joseph Inuyashe, that he was born in Aniocha Local Government Area, but grew up in Onistha, Anambra until recently when he relocated to Okuku-Yala Local Government in Cross River State where he is living with his  parents.He said since he came to Cross River State, he had abstained from women, regretting that his first attempt to make love to a girl of his desire has resulted in tragedy.He said:

  Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie’s third novel AMERICANAH has been awarded the 2013 Chicago Tribune Heartland Prize for fiction.
 ‘Americanah’ Clinches the Heartland Prize for Fiction adding to her several other awards.
The Heartland Prize is a literary prize created in 1988 by the Chicago Tribune Newspaper.

 According to the literary editor of the Chicago Tribune, Elizabeth Taylor, prize is awarded yearly in two categories, fiction and non-fiction, to books that are concerned with American issues, causes and concerns.

“We loved AMERICANAH. It’s a powerful, resonant novel and we would be delighted to celebrate it and try to share it with a wider audience,” .

  THERE was anxiety, on Sunday, following the delivery of a baby girl with prayer rosary wrapped around her neck during delivery in Bida, Bida Local Government Area of Niger State.The incident, which occurred around 2.00 p.m at Kotuworo area of the town, close to the home of Alhaji Bello Mansaba, the man with 86 wives, was said to have caused uproar, with people thronging the town to have a look at the baby born to Mrs Adijat and Mallam Issa, both of whom hail from Lama, Kwara State.
